I'm an enthusiast for global education so I travel to explore the world as much as possible. My other loves are my daughters, nachos and service learning! Originally from Florida, I have made Cincinnati home having lived here for over twenty-five years now. I teach Social Studies at Indian Hill High School (a northern suburb of Cincinnati), where I have been since 2004. Subjects I have taught include; World History, Psychology, U.S. Government, Leadership and AP Human Geography. Sharing food with others and imagining creative ways to educate about the food system is a source of joy, along with developing and implementing experiential learning. I treasure opportunities to open the world of inter-cultural exchange for students in the hope that it will be as powerful and meaningful for them as it has been for me. I have had the pleasure of participating in two exchanges in Munich, Germany and one in Ghana, West Africa. In 2014 I took a Fair Trade tour in Nicaragua when one of my students won an online contest and took me with her! In 2015 I traveled to Chiapas, Mexico, after winning a Fund for Teachers grant, to learn more about trade policy and its effects on the indigenous people in the region. Personal travel destinations have included Colombia, Oaxaca and much of Europe. It has been a privilege to take students on two service-learning trips to Peru, first in 2016, and again in 2018. Service-learning is my favorite teaching strategy, and in 2017 our class was recognized as a top three program in the State of Ohio for innovation by the Ohio School Boards Association due to the hard work and passion of some wonderful students and the opportunity to be inspired by some amazing non-profits in our area. I currently service as a consultant with the College Board for the newly launched AP with WE Service program, am an AP Reader and a contributor to the iScore5 app for AP Human Geography.
